About IMOVAX Rabies Vaccine

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR IMOVAX RABIES VACCINE

For preexposure prophylaxis, a known life-threatening systemic hypersensitivity reaction to any component of the vaccine is a contraindication.

Serum sickness type reactions have been reported in up to 7% of persons receiving booster vaccination for preexposure prophylaxis. Rare cases of a transient neuroparalytic illness resembling Guillain-Barré syndrome which resolved without sequelae in 12 weeks and a focal subacute central nervous system disorder temporally associated with the vaccine have also been reported. Other adverse reactions may occur.

Once initiated for postexposure treatment rabies vaccination should not be interrupted or discontinued because of mild local or systemic adverse reactions. Usually such reactions can be successfully managed with anti-inflammatory and antipyretic agents.

The most common local and systemic adverse reactions to IMOVAX Rabies vaccine may include pain, erythema, and swelling at the injection site; headache, nausea, and abdominal pain. Vaccination with IMOVAX Rabies vaccine may not protect all individuals.

INDICATION FOR IMOVAX RABIES VACCINE
